Family hotels, checked before you book

The right hotel makes the whole trip easier.

Family hotels in Europe, picked so the trip stays easy. We check for pools, connecting rooms, and walkable locations — not just star ratings.

Alexandra Beaumont Why this site exists

I reviewed luxury hotels for eight years. Then I started travelling with kids.

For eight years my job was noticing thread counts and lobby design. Then I started travelling with children, and every review I had written stopped answering the only question that mattered at seven in the evening: will this room work with one child asleep and the other still needing a bath?

So I changed what I measure. Not the marble — whether the pool is open in October. Not the design concept — whether two rooms genuinely connect. Seven cities, thirty-five hotels, each checked against its own listing and an independent source. Where I cannot verify something, I say so.

A beautiful lobby has never once helped at bedtime.
How I check every hotel

Explore all 7 destinations

Same approach in every city — real pools, real room sizes, honest locations.

🇮🇹 Rome

The Eternal City, minus the meltdowns

Dense, hot, and short on pools in the centre — which makes the right base matter more here than almost anywhere.

🇪🇸 Barcelona

Gaudí, the beach, and a metro that actually works

Beach, Gaudí and a metro that actually works — the easiest big city on this list to do with kids.

5 hotels · 2 with a real pool · from €95

🇩🇪 Berlin

Germany's creative capital, and famously flat

Flat, spread out and superbly connected, so the transit map matters more here than the hotel pool.

🇨🇿 Prague

Fairy-tale spires, real cobblestones

Beautiful and brutally cobbled. Staying within walking distance of the bridges beats any amenity.

🇵🇹 Lisbon

Seven hills, a river, and trams older than most cities' subways

Seven hills and a lot of stairs — where you sleep decides how much climbing you actually do.

🇫🇷 Paris

Grand boulevards and a Métro that wasn't built with strollers in mind

Small rooms, long queues, few pools. The wins here are family rooms, kitchens and walkable streets.

🇫🇷 Marseille

France's oldest port city — grittier, sunnier and far more affordable than Paris

Sunnier and far cheaper than Paris — the same money buys a pool and a view of the harbour.

Why Travel Too Easy is different

🏊

Real pools, checked

We note whether a pool is year-round, seasonal, or a marketing photo of a spa tub. It matters at 4pm with tired kids.

🚪

Rooms that actually fit

Connecting rooms and real family suites, not a fold-out cot in a double.

🧭

Walkable or honest about it

If a hotel needs a car or a long shuttle ride, we say so upfront.

💶

Every budget tier

From resort splurges to honest budget picks — sorted by price, not just by commission.
